Belongs to Tetrastylus according to F. Ameghino 1886
Sister taxa: Tetrastylus angustidens, Tetrastylus araucanus, Tetrastylus atrophiatus, Tetrastylus intermedius, Tetrastylus montanus
Type specimen: MACN 3518, a mandible (right hemimandible, with incisor and complete dental series). Its type locality is Parana, Pueblo Brugo to Diamante, Ituzaingo Fm., which is in a Huayquerian marine sandstone/mudstone in the Ituzaingo Formation of Argentina.
Ecology: ground dwelling frugivore-folivore
Distribution:
• Huayquerian of Argentina (8 collections)
Total: 8 collections each including a single occurrence
