Type specimens:

  • Leptomeryx obliquidens: YPM 10541, a partial skull (Poorly preserved skull and jaws, with entire series of eheek teeth.). Its type locality is Hermosa (Oligocene), which is in a Whitneyan terrestrial horizon in the Brule Formation of South Dakota.
  • Leptomeryx agatensis: No. HC500, a maxilla (left maxilla with P3 to M3). Its type locality is Syndyoceras Quarry, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Harrison Formation of Nebraska.

Ecology: ground dwelling frugivore

Distribution:

• Harrisonian of United States (1: Nebraska collection)

• Oligocene of United States (1: South Dakota)

Total: 2 collections each including a single occurrence
