Sister taxa: Pomatodelphis bobengi, Pomatodelphis inaequalis, Pomatodelphis stenorhynchus

Type specimen: CMM-V-4669, a partial skull (partial skull including most of the neurocranium (with the two peri- otics in situ, but without supraorbital processes) and the rostrum base). Its type locality is Chesapeake Ranch Estates, which is in a Tortonian shallow subtidal siliciclastic in the St. Marys Formation of Maryland.

Ecology: aquatic piscivore
