Type specimen: AM 12970, a partial skeleton (Skullwith I1(rt.)-M3 (lacking supraoccipital region), mandible with i1(br.)-m3, radius, ulna, manus, and skeletal fragments). Its type locality is AMNH Rosebud 18, which is in a Harrisonian terrestrial horizon in the Rosebud Formation of South Dakota.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

• Miocene of Panama (2 collections), United States (3: Colorado, Oregon)

• Harrisonian of United States (7: Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming)

• Arikareean of United States (2: Oregon)

Total: 14 collections each including a single occurrence
