Sister taxa: Arctoryctes, Arctoryctes terrenus, Mesoscalops scopelotemos

Type specimen: UWBM 54708, a skeleton (partially articulated skeleton including skull and jaws, vertebral column, ribs, nearly complete forelimb, and partial hind limb). Its type locality is Spring Creek 1 (Level 2), which is in a Hemingfordian/Barstovian terrestrial horizon in the Deep River Formation of Montana.

Ecology: scansorial insectivore

Distribution: found only at Spring Creek 1 (Level 2)
