Sister taxa: Arctoryctes, Arctoryctes terrenus, Mesoscalops montanensis, Mesoscalops scopelotemos

Type specimen: MMNS VP-8239, a tooth (left m2). Its type locality is Jones Branch Local Fauna, which is in an Arikareean terrestrial claystone in the Catahoula Formation of Mississippi.

Ecology: scansorial insectivore

Distribution: found only at Jones Branch Local Fauna
