Sister taxa: Metamynodon mckinneyi, Metamynodon planifrons

Type specimen: AMNH 11866, a mandible (both rami of the lower jaw, with the cheek teeth). Its type locality is Quinn Draw (Lower Titanotherium Beds), which is in a Chadronian terrestrial horizon in the Chadron Formation of South Dakota.

Ecology: amphibious browser

Distribution:

• Eocene of United States (3: South Dakota, Texas collections)

Total: 3 collections each including a single occurrence
