Type specimens:
- Metarhinus diploconus: AMNH 1863, a skull (skull (No1863) in which the nasals are wanting and the mid-region of the cranium was crushed).
- Rhadinorhinus abbotti: FMNH 12179. Its type locality is White River (Upper Uinta B1), which is in an Uintan terrestrial horizon in the Uinta Formation of Utah.
Ecology: ground dwelling browser
Distribution: found only at White River (Upper Uinta B1) (Eocene of Utah)
