Sister taxa: Oncorhynchus lacustris, Oncorhynchus rastrosus, Oncorhynchus salax, Oncorhynchus tshawytscha

Type specimen: UMMP 97500, a skull (a partial skull of a female (?) salmon, 157 mm long). Its type locality is Coyote Gulch, which is in a Hemphillian fluvial sandstone in the Chalk Hills Formation of Oregon.

Ecology: nektonic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Coyote Gulch
