Sister taxa: Wyonycteris galensis, Wyonycteris kingi, Wyonycteris microtis, Wyonycteris primitivus, Wyonycteris richardi

Type specimen: UM 76910, a mandible (right dentary with P4, M1 (part), and M2). Its type locality is Discovery Site, which is in an Eocene wet floodplain wackestone in the Willwood Formation of Wyoming.
