Type specimens:

  • Coelophysis bauri: AMNH 2722, 7224 (neotype), a skeleton. Its type locality is Ghost Ranch Quarry, which is in a Rhaetian crevasse splay siltstone/conglomerate in the Chinle Formation of New Mexico.
  • Coelurus longicollis: AMNH 2701. Its type locality is Arroyo Seco 1, which is in a Norian terrestrial horizon in the Chinle Formation of New Mexico.
  • Rioarribasaurus colberti: AMNH 7223. Its type locality is Ghost Ranch Quarry, which is in a Rhaetian crevasse splay siltstone/conglomerate in the Chinle Formation of New Mexico.
  • Tanystropheus willistoni: AMNH 2726, 2727. Its type locality is Arroyo Seco 1, which is in a Norian terrestrial horizon in the Chinle Formation of New Mexico.
