Sister taxon: Thescelus insiliens
Type specimen: AMNH 6066, a partial shell (partially damaged shell). Its type locality is west of Chaco Canyon, Ojo Alamo (AMNH), which is in a Campanian terrestrial shale/sandstone in the Kirtland Formation of New Mexico.
