Sister taxa: Mesoreodon chelonyx, Mesoreodon minor

Type specimen: UF 125416, a skull (cranium and mandible with complete R & L dentition.). Its type locality is White Springs 3B, which is in a Chattian marginal marine sandstone in the Parachucla Formation of Florida.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution: found only at White Springs 3B
