Sister taxa: Archaeotypotherium pattersoni, Archaeotypotherium propheticus
Type specimen: SGOPV 2823, rostrum bearing left and right C1-M3, a maxilla. Its type locality is Tinguiririca Locality Sets 1 & 2, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial volcaniclastic in the Abanico Formation of Chile.
Ecology: scansorial herbivore
Distribution: found only at Tinguiririca Locality Sets 1 & 2
