Type specimens:

  • Glyptodontopelta mimus: USNM 8610, an osteoderm (co-ossified pelvic osteoderms (portion of pelvic shield), isolated thoracic and pelvic osteoderms, osteoderm fragments from cervical/pectoral rings). Its type locality is 1 mile southwest of Ojo Alamo Store (USNM), which is in a Maastrichtian terrestrial horizon in the Ojo Alamo Formation of New Mexico.
  • Edmontonia australis: NMMNH P-25063, an osteoderm.

Ecology: ground dwelling herbivore

Distribution:

• Cretaceous of United States (11: New Mexico collections)
