Type specimen: UCMP 41599, a set of vertebrae. Its type locality is Oakley Ranch (UCMP V4958), which is in a Tithonian terrestrial shale in the "Franciscan-Knoxville shales" Formation of California.

Ecology: aquatic carnivore

Distribution: found only at Oakley Ranch (UCMP V4958)
