It was recombined as Drillia vaningeni by Brown and Pilsbry (1911); it was recombined as Turris vaningeni by Mansfield (1925) and Maury (1925); it was recombined as Turris (Gemmula) vaningeni by Oinomikado (1939); it was recombined as Gemmula vaningeni by Olsson (1964), Woodring (1970).
