Taxonomy
Pterodon hyaenoides was named by Matthew and Granger (1925). Its type specimen is AMNH 20307, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ula Usu, Shara Murum (AMNH), which is in an Eocene terrestrial sandstone/claystone in the Shara Murum Formation of China.
