Buccinum geversianum was named by Pallas (1774). It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Fusus geversianus by Hupé (1854); it was recombined as Trophon geversianum by DeVries (2005); it was recombined as Trophon geversianus by Nielson and Valdovinos (2008).
