Pleurotoma crenulata was named by Lamarck (1804) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Grignon (Defrance collection), which is in a Lutetian open shallow subtidal sandstone/sandstone in France.
It was recombined as Epalxis crenulata by Bone et al (1991); it was recombined as Gemmula crenulata by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
