Pleurotoma monerma was named by Edwards (1861) [DISTRIBUTION: Eocene; western Europe.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Eopleurotoma monerma by Burton (1933); it was recombined as Gemmula monerma by Tracey (1995); it was recombined as Gemmula (Coroniopsis) monerma by Tracey (1995).
