Taxonomy
Adapis magnus was named by Filhol (1874). Its type specimen is MNHN QU 11002, a skull (cranium), and it is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Leptadapis magnus by Gervais (1876), Hooker (1986), Godinot and Couette (2008).
