Pseudotitanoceras was named by Shimansky (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: P u Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. Its type is Nautilus armeniacus.

It was assigned to Nautilida by Sepkoski (2002); to Grypoceratidae by Miao et al. (2019); and to Ocunautilidae by Korn and Hairapetian (2025).
