Taxonomy
Tarbellastraea salentinensis was named by Bosellini (1996) [in Budd, Bosellini and Stemann 1996]. Its type locality is Vitigliano, Castro, back reef, Italy, which is in a Chattian reef, buildup or bioherm grainstone/packstone in the Castro Limestone Formation of Italy.
