Taxonomy
Laterophyllia turriformis was named by Kühn (1933). Its type locality is Kahn-i-Shahr, which is in a Burdigalian perireef or subreef limestone in the Saidabad Coral Limestone Formation of Iran. It is the type species of Laterophyllia.
