Leptoria concentrica was named by Duncan (1880). Its type locality is Magar Pir, Karachi, Sind, Pakistan, which is in a Burdigalian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone/sandstone in Pakistan.
It was recombined as Platygyra concentrica by Reuter et al. (2019).
