Taxonomy
Boochoerus angustus was named by Loomis (1932). Its type specimen is Amherst College Museum 31-105, a set of postcrania (two almost complete front feet), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Boochoerus angustus type locality, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in South Dakota.
