Taxonomy
Astrea bacciformis was named by Michelin (1846). Its type specimen is syntype MNHN.F.M00045, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Cryptocoenia bacciformis by d'Orbigny (1850); it was recombined as Stylina bacciformis by Milne-Edwards and Haime (1857); it was recombined as Adelocoenia bacciformis by Beauvais (1967), Lathuilière et al. (2020).
