Taxonomy
Pycnodus bicresta was named by Kumar and Loyal (1987). Its type specimen is VPL/K 593, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East Babbian Gala Locality, which is in a Lutetian channel lag shale in the Subathu Formation of India.
