Taxonomy
Typhis (Talityphis) carmenae was named by Gertman (1969). Its type specimen is USNM 646222, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is TU 638 - Coatzacoalcos [Agueguexquite Fm], which is in a Pliocene coastal claystone in the Agueguexquite Formation of Mexico.
