Fenestella nitidaeformis was named by Morozova (1970). Its type specimen is PIN 1790/434 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chernopenevo, Kirov Region, which is in a Roadian coastal siliciclastic in the Kazan Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Cavernella nitidaeformis by Morozova (2001).
