Galfettites was named by Brayard and Bucher (2008). It is the type genus of Galfettitidae.
It was assigned to Flemingitidae by Brayard and Bucher (2008), Jenks et al. (2010); and to Galfettitidae by Brühwiler and Bucher (2012), Shigeta and Nguyen (2014), Smyshlyaeva and Zakharov (2021), Đaković et al. (2022).
