Taxonomy
Remopleurides plaesiourus was named by Whittington (1959) [Paratypes: USNM 137678a-e]. Its type specimen is USNM 137677, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Loc. 9, Greenmount Church area, which is in a Chatfieldian/Edenian carbonate shale in the Martinsburg Formation of Virginia.
