It was reranked as the suborder Mantodea by Tillyard (1923); it was synonymized subjectively with Raptoriae by Kluge (2010).
It was assigned to Orthoptera by Tillyard (1923); to Blattopteroidea by Sharov (1968); to Exopterygota by Carpenter (1992); to Blattoneoptera by Kukalová-Peck and Lawrence (2004); and to Dictyoptera by Grimaldi (2003), Eades (2012), Misof et al. (2014), Wipfler et al. (2019).
