Taxonomy
Houchangocyathus yaoi was named by Ezaki (2000). Its type specimen is OCU 6547 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Houchang, Yabeina zone, Zunyi County, which is in a Capitanian reef, buildup or bioherm packstone/grainstone in the Maokou Formation of China.
