Taxonomy
Stereostylus absitus was named by Jeffords (1947). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Baldwin, Toronto Limestone, Douglas, which is in a Virgilian marine limestone in the Oread Formation of Kansas.
It was recombined as Lophophyllidium (Lophophyllidium) absitum by Fedorowski (1987).
