Ranella morrisi was named by d'Archiac (1854) [DISTRIBUTION: Oligocene; Pakistan.]. It is not a trace fossil.

It was recombined as Ranella (Apollon) morrisi by Vredenburg (1925); it was recombined as Apollon morrisi by Harzhauser et al. (2009).
