Taxonomy
Murex campanii was named by De Stefani and Pantanelli (1878). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hexaplex (Phyllonotus) campanii by Ruggieri and Davoli (1984); it was recombined as Hexaplex (Trunculariopsis) campanii by Landau et al. (2007).
