Taxonomy
Rectifenestella smithae was named by Reid (2003). Its type specimen is UTGD 127125 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is M14, Fossil Bay Cliffs, Maria Island, which is in an Artinskian offshore siltstone in the Skipping Ridge Formation of Australia.
