Taxonomy
Heliospongia ramosa was named by Girty (1908). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM705k, Leonard Mountain, Glass Mountains, which is in an Artinskian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Lenox Hills Formation of Texas.
