Austinvillia was named by Resser (1938) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Boto-u Cm Tojo Sepkoski's reference number: 81]. It is not extant. Its type is Austinvillia virginica.

It was assigned to Ptychopariidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Ptychopariida by Sepkoski (2002).
