Taxonomy
Gryllacris lithanthraca was named by Goldenberg (1854). It is an impression. Its type locality is Fischbach, Rußhütte, which is in a Westphalian C lacustrine shale in the Lower Saarbrucker layer Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Genopteryx lithanthraca by Scudder (1885), Scudder (1885); it was recombined as Lithophasma lithanthraca by Brongniart (1885); it was considered a nomen nudum by Goldenberg (1852); it was recombined as Prototettix lithanthraca by Giebel (1856), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1908), von Schlechtendal (1913), Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Waterlot (1934), Guthörl (1934).
