Taxonomy
Heliadornis ashbyi was named by Olson (1985). Its type specimen is USNM 237226, a limb element (left humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parker Creek, south, Zone 11, which is in a Langhian marine claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
