Taxonomy
Pholidophorus caudalis was named by Woodward (1895). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BMNH P.3664. Its type locality is Lyme Regis, Enniskillen collection, which is in a Sinemurian marine horizon in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Pholidophoropsis caudalis by Nybelin (1966).
