Namaichthys sculpta
Taxonomy
Palaeoniscus sculptus was named by Egerton (1856). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is BMNH P. 12193, a dermal scale, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Styl Krantz, Cape Colony, BMNH fish, which is in a Wuchiapingian lacustrine shale in South Africa.
It was recombined as Namaichthys sculpta by Gardiner (1962).
