Taxonomy
Victorlemoineia prototypica was named by Paula Couto (1952). Its type specimen is MNRJ 1470-V, a tooth (Right m2 or 3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is São José de Itaborai, which is in an Eocene fissure fill marl in the Itaboraí Formation of Brazil.
