Taxonomy
Proterocara argentina was named by Malabarba et al. (2006). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Alemania locality, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian lacustrine sandstone/claystone in the Lumbrera Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Proterocara.
