Gymnogeophagus eocenicus
Taxonomy
Gymnogeophagus eocenicus was named by Malabarba et al. (2010). Its type specimen is CNS-V10024, a skeleton (Right lateral view), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Alemania locality, which is in a Ypresian/Lutetian lacustrine sandstone/claystone in the Lumbrera Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Gymnogeophagus.
