Taxonomy
Batrachosuchoides lacer was named by Shishkin (1967). Its type specimen is PIN 953/2, a partial skull (Anterior part of skull), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Okunevo (Fedorovka River), which is in an Olenekian terrestrial horizon in the Russian Federation. It is the type species of Batrachosuchoides.

Synonyms
  • Batrachosuchoides impressus was named by Novikov and Shishkin (1994). Its type specimen is PIN 4370/1, a partial skull, and it is an impression. Its type locality is PIN 4370, Hey Yaga River, which is in an Olenekian terrestrial sandstone in the Nyadeytinskaya Formation of the Russian Federation.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Batrachosuchoides lacer by Schoch and Milner (2014).
