J. Jin et al. 2006 | Large, elongate, strongly ventribiconvex shells, thicker than wide, with high, rostrate ventral umbo; ventral and dorsal interareas well developed; fold and sulcus absent; narrow median groove usually present on both valves; delthyrium open. Spondylium broad V-shaped in cross section, one-half to two-thirds of shell length; median septum approximately one-third shell length. Inner hinge plates basomedially inclined towards valve floor, rarely united to form sessile cruralium; outer hinge plates slightly longer than inner hinge plates. Crura long, strong, rodlike, about same length as spondylium. |
